DIY Face Glow Serum with essential oils

One of the things that got me hooked when I tried Young Living essential oils is the fact that are so pure and concentrated that you can make anything with them.

If you take a close look at most of your personal/beauty products most of them say they contain essential oils as ingredients, but then they ruin it by adding all these other chemicals and toxins that have no business going near your face or body. So that’s why I just make my own, who knew it could be sooo easy.

My favorite DIY is my face glow serum. (Available in my Etsy shop @foreverbloomingco)

This has literally been such a game changer. I used to spend so much money on “good” face creams and serums and never really saw great results. Ever since I made my own, I’ve been so good at using it daily and can really feel a difference in my skin.

You can make your own with all-natural, organic ingredients for way less… and it’s so much better for your skin. This Homemade Facial Serum is packed full of nutrients that your skin will love and will keep your skin glowing.

What you’ll need:

  • 2oz glass dropper bottle (Amazon has great options)

  • Organic Jojoba oil (I like the brand Cligani)

  • Organic Rosehip oil (Cligani)

  • Frankincense essential oil (I only trust the purity of young living oils)

  • Lavender essential oil

  • Manuka essential oil

  • Valor essential oil or,

  • Blue Tansy oil (if you have it)

What Are the Benefits of Using a Facial Serum?

The most common benefits include hydration, increased nourishment, brightening of the skin, and acne prevention. They also help in strengthening skin cells. While other face creams contain only 5-10% of active ingredients, a face serum can contain up to 70%.

Let’s go over the ingredients and why they work so well…

About the Ingredients

  • Rosehip seed oil is my favorite carrier oil for the face. It has a reddish-amber color and thicker than an almond or avocado oil. It’s perfect for this serum recipe as it soaks into the skin quickly without leaving an oily residue, so it can be worn day or night. It’s great for all skin types, particularly aging or mature skin. It’s high in essential fatty acids and can help with spots, dryness, and fine lines. Opt only for for cold-pressed, organic rosehip seed oil.

  • Jojoba Oil. When you put jojoba oil on your skin, your skin is soothed and moisturized. This sends a signal to your hair and sweat follicles that your skin doesn't need additional sebum for hydration. This keeps skin from looking oily and helps prevent acne caused by clogged pores.

  • Frankincense essential oil has been used for thousands of years and excellent for healthy-looking skin.

  • Lavender essential oil is excellent for the skin – especially if you spend a lot of time in the sun.

  • Manuka essential oil in skin care, helps to balance and protect skin from bacteria and promote overall skin health.

  • Mastrante essential oil is calming and promotes feelings of relaxation. This particular variety is high in limonene and carvone and can be used topically to promote radiant-looking skin. (This is one optional, it has a strong smell that some people don’t like, but very beneficial)

  • Blue Tansy, It's got antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Its most common use is to calm irritated skin, reduce heat, and relieve delicate or troubled skin. Blue tansy's ability to clear congested pores, kill off pimple-causing bacteria, and reduce redness, make it one of the best oils for acne-prone skin.

  • Valor is an essential oil blend created by young living that has Blue Tansy in it as well as other calming and soothing oils.
